On the 19th February 2016 we celebrated the 140th anniversary of Constantin Brâncuși, the Romanian sculptor. In November 2015, the Romanian Government officially declared 19 February as Brâncuși Day – National Day.

Considered a pioneer of modernism, one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th-century, Brâncuși - (born Feb. 19, 1876, Hobița, Gorj – died Mar. 16, 1957, Paris) - is called the patriarch of modern sculpture.

Through his work, Brâncuși has influenced world art history and he is considered an innovator in the world sculpture by immersion in the primo

rdial sources of folk creation.

One of his most known sculptures are: The Endless Column (1933), The Table of Silence (1937), The Gate of the Kiss (1938), The Kiss (1907), Mademoiselle Pogany (1913), Maiastra (1910) , Adam and Eve (1921).
